Tuesday: Syndergaard out to prove he is healthy, Giants in Boston and a weird Seton Hall connection…

Mets @ Cubs, 7:00pm- Syndergaard v. Arrieta

Noah Syndergaard has not pitched since July 8th when he left his start against the Nationals with arm issues. The Mets fans held their breath, but Thor will return to hill tonight on ESPN. With deGrom’s increase in velocity over recent weeks, the Mets need Syndergaard to be a mainstay for their stretch run. The Mets are in third place and can ill afford to slip up much the rest of the way.

Giants @ Red Sox, 7:10pm- Peavy v. Porcello

The Giants return to Boston for the first time since June 17, 2007. On that afternoon Tim Wakefield earned the win and Matt Morris took the loss for the Giants. Morris, who played college baseball at Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey, was shelled that day. Morris gave up eight earned over four innings of work.

“Seton Hall Baseball at Richmond” By Davidlind

Tonight, Rick Porcello will start for the Red Sox. Porcello played high school baseball at Seton Hall Prep, located in West Orange, New Jersey. The Giants are 5.5 up on the Dodgers in the NL West while the Red Sox are all in on the 2016 season (see the Pomeranz deal if you don’t believe me) and are just 1.5 back of the Orioles in the AL East. By the way, Porcello was a senior in high school in 2007, the year he was drafted in the first round by the Detroit Tigers.
